Argentina signs 161.5 MW of RenovAr 2 contracts

November 26 (Renewables Now) - Argentina has signed contracts for 161.5 MW of green projects that were selected in the first stage of the country's renewable energy auction programme RenovAr Round 2.

Power purchase agreements (PPAs) were inked with Argentina's wholesale electric market management company CAMMESA for two wind, one biogas and one small hydropower plant (HPP).

Back in 2017, Argentina launched a second stage of RenovAr Round 2, aiming for an additional 600 MW. Both stages combined have awarded 88 projects, of which 73 or 1,769.6 MW have signed PPAs.

Recently, Argentina launched the third round of RenovAr looking to secure 400 MW of new installed capacity.
