Argentina connects Arauco wind farm to national power grid
(ADPnews) - Nov 10, 2010 - The Arauco wind farm in Argentina's northwestern La Rioja province was connected to the national power network last week with the launch of a new power substation, La Rioja's government said on Monday.
The wind farm will be officially inaugurated in mid-December 2010, when its 12 turbines will be already producing electricity. At that moment, the facility will have an installed capacity of 25.2 MW.
The first four turbines are currently ready to start production, while other four are being tested.
Argentine engineering firm Industrias Metalurgicas Pescarmona (Impsa), which is completing the construction of the Arauco wind farm, has recently won a government tender to expand the project's installed capacity to 50 MW.
