February 14 (Renewables Now) - A new organisation dedicated to supporting the hydrogen industry in the Asia Pacific region has been formed this week.
The Asia-Pacific Hydrogen Association (APAC Hydrogen Association) was set up by industry executives from the renewables sector in Asia. The Singapore-based entity will coordinate international policy, communications, research and analysis. Additionally, the association will provide networking and learning opportunities within APAC, according to an official statement published on Thursday.
“Our mission is to establish and promote the use of hydrogen in the regional economies power as a solution to the region’s rapidly growing energy demand and environmental challenges, providing meaningful benefits to the region as a whole”, said Edgare Kerkwijk, one of the association’s founders.
Energy consultant KBR Consulting is part of the organisation’s founding members and will advise governments and industry players on their hydrogen strategies.
APAC Hydrogen Association has already scheduled some activities in the coming year, including membership meetings and industry seminars. The first annual Asia Hydrogen Energy Conference is also on its agenda, to be held in Singapore in October.
