Amyris, ETH Bioenergia form renewable farnesene JV in Brazil
Oct 24, 2011 - US biofuels producer Amyris Inc (NASDAQ:AMRS) said last week it had agreed with Brazilian sector firm ETH Bionergia to form a joint venture to produce Amyris's renewable farnesene Biofene.
The entity will have access to up to two million tonnes of sugar cane crush capacity a year at one of ETH's facilities in Brazil. ETH will control the joint company, while Amyris will own the exclusive marketing rights for the produced Biofene. The partners expect to kick off production by 2014.
Including the current joint venture deal, Amyris already has access to 15 million tonnes of sugar cane crush capacity in Brazil, it said. The agreement with ETH is Amyris's sixth Biofene production contract, following deals in Europe, the US and South America.
