January 21 (Renewables Now) - US energy efficiency and renewables firm Ameresco Inc (NYSE:AMRC) has bought Massachusetts-based solar operations and maintenance (O&M) specialist Maximum Solar.

The acquired firm presently manages more than 150 MW of solar power generating facilities throughout the northeastern US. It serves clients ranging from large utilities to owners of single 100-kW arrays.

Ameresco said in a statement that this acquisition will expand its O&M offerings to owners of commercial-scale photovoltaic (PV) plants. It did not disclose the value of the purchase, but said it does not expect it to have a material impact on the financial results of the firm.

“A well-designed and properly executed maintenance program can be a crucial element to long-term energy system performance and production,” commented Pete Christakis, Vice President Construction & Operations of Ameresco.
