Ameren Missouri, part of US utility Ameren Corp (NYSE:AEE), is looking for approval for a 15-MW solar power project in Montgomery County.
The company this week filed an application with the Missouri Public Service Commission seeking Commission authority and a certificate of convenience and necessity to construct, own, operate and maintain the photovoltaic (PV) park. Ameren Missouri aims to begin construction this year and complete it by the end of 2016.
According to the firm’s calculations, the solar park will produce 20,655 MWh per year.
The St Louis Post-Dispatch said Wednesday that Ameren Missouri hopes to break ground on the project by October. It cited the company’s head Bill Barbieri as saying that by completing the PV farm next year, it will be able to take advantage of the 30% federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). That incentive falls to 10% from the start of 2017.
Financial details on the project are not yet public because the developer is still negotiating contracts, the regional newspaper said, quoting Barbieri.
