Alstom nabs EUR 270m in wind turbine orders in Brazil
Sep 27, 2012 - French heavy engineering group Alstom (EPA:ALO) today said it had received two wind turbine supply and installation contracts totalling EUR 270 million (USD 347.5m) from Brazil's industrial conglomerate Queiroz Galvao.
Under the agreements, Alstom will manufacture, deliver, install and commission its ECO 122 2.7-MW wind turbines in two wind power complexes in northeastern Brazil, and also provide operation and maintenance services for 10 years.
Alstom will produce the machines at its factory in northeastern Brazil's state of Bahia. When fully operational the factory, opened in November 2011, will have output capacity of 600 MW of wind turbines per year with two work shifts, Alstom said.
The French engineer has over 2,300 turbines installed or under construction in some 130 wind farms with total capacity of more than 3,200 MW globally, it added.
