All 12 solar projects totalling 480 MW that won support in the Australian Renewable Energy Agency’s (ARENA) recent large-scale solar funding round are set to go ahead in 2017, RenewEconomy said.
The publication reported that all projects have deposited bonds with ARENA, meaning that they are confident of reaching financial close by the deadline of January 31, 2017. The agency can grant an extension of up to 100 days.
All successful bidders were required to deposit bid bonds of AUD 20,000 (USD 15,100/EUR 13,600) per MW for their projects, or a maximum of AUD 500,000 by October 10. RenewEconomy said it understood a total AUD 5.6 million has been deposited.
According to the article on Tuesday, other big solar projects could also move ahead in 2017, taking advantage of available finance, declining solar module costs and the higher price of renewable energy certificates.
