Alfa Laval to supply equipment for 100-MW S African CSP facility
Dec 5, 2012 - Swedish engineering group Alfa Laval AB (STO:ALFA) on Wednesday unveiled a contract to provide heat exchangers for a 100-MW concentrated solar power (CSP) system in South Africa.
The CSP project is being developed by Spanish firm Abengoa Solar, part of Abengoa SA (MCE:ABG).
Alfa Laval is due to finalise delivery in 2014. The exact value of the contract was not announced.
The KaXu Solar One plant, located near Pofadder, Northern Cape, will use parabolic trough technology. The heat exchangers supplied by Alfa Laval will be used for the thermal storage system which will store solar power in molten salt. It will allow the system to operate for three additional hours on stored energy even when there is no sunlight.
