Aleo Solar names VP of sales, marketing for North American unit

Sep 12, 2011 - German photovoltaic (PV) technology producer Aleo Solar (ETR:AS1) last week unveiled the appointment of Shane Messer as executive vice president of sales and marketing at its North American arm.

Messer will also act as general manager of the unit, Aleo Solar North America Inc. With his help, the company is seeking to bolster its business in the region and take advantage of the anticipated strong growth of the North American solar market.

Messer was previously senior director of sales for North America at US PV equipment maker SunPower Corp (NASDAQ:SPWRA).

According to sector experts, newly added solar power capacity in North America this year will be more than 1.0 GW. In 2012 and 2013 the figure is to grow to 2.0 GW and 4.0 GW, respectively, the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) projects. At the same time, the European market was rather weak in the first half of 2011 due to subsidy cuts and policy uncertainty.
