Albasolar, REC deliver components for major Austrian solar park

Oct 25, 2011 - German photovoltaic firm Albasolar GmbH and Norwegian solar power company Renewable Energy Corporation (OSL:REC) agreed to provide modules for the biggest PV power plant in Austria, Albasolar said today.

The plant, located in the Niedere Tauern mountain in the Austrian state of Styria, is considered to be the highest in Europe. It will have an output of 2 MW.

The project, on an area of 60,000 square meters (645,835 square feet), costs some EUR 5 million (USD 6.96m).

The power plant is expected to provide 2.5 million kWh of electricity per year, which is sufficient for 700 households and saves 2,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
