October 21 (SeeNews) - Renewable energy firm GreenWish Partners, which will celebrate the completion of a 20-MW solar park in Senegal this weekend, already has plans for bigger projects in Nigeria.

CEO Charlotte Aubin-Kalaidjian told Bloomberg in an interview that GreenWish aims to start construction in 2017 of two 50-MW solar power plants in northern Nigeria. One will be in Kaduna, while the location of the other has not been disclosed.

In June, private equity firm Denham Capital announced that it will support GreenWish in a plan to build 600 MW of renewables in Sub-Saharan Africa by 2020.

The Senergy II independent power producer project in Senegal was built in partnership with French construction group Vinci. GreenWish also has on- and off-grid projects in several countries in the region, and Bloomberg cited Aubin-Kalaidjian as saying that the firm intends to open a Kenyan office too.
