AES Gener seeks enviro nod for 280-MW wind project in Chile

March 25 (Renewables Now) - AES Gener SA has submitted the environmental impact statement (EIS) seeking approval to erect the 280-MW Nolana wind farm in the Chilean region of Antofagasta.

According to the Chilean environmental evaluation service (SEA), which on Tuesday accepted the EIS for consideration, the Santiago-based power company plans to invest USD 257 million (EUR 236m) in the project.

The proposed wind farm is to feature 50 turbines, each of 5.6 MW of nominal capacity. The project will be located some 40 kilometres (24.8 miles) north-east of the coastal town of Paposo in the Taltal commune.
