January 19 (Renewables Now) - Latin American power company AES Gener has submitted plans for a 114-MW wind project in Chile for environmental evaluation, according to a filing with environmental permitting agency SEA.

AES Gener’s environmental impact statement (EIS) shows that the company seeks to erect the Don Alvaro wind farm in the Biobio region and pour USD 154 million (EUR 126.9m) in the initiative.

The project will install 19 units of 6-MW turbines, which would be connected to the substation of the Campo Lindo wind farm, also a property of AES Gener.

The 73-MW Campo Lindo has been under construction since October last year.

AES Gener has marked October 2021 as the month it expects the Don Alvaro construction to start.
