Dec 17, 2012 - US solar inverter maker Advanced Energy Industries Inc (NASDAQ:AEIS) on Saturday said it had bought Swiss power supplies producer Solvix SA as part of its thin films growth plan.
Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Through the deal, Advanced Energy will boost its offerings in low power and pulsed direct current (DC) products, it said. It will also add plasma-based sputtering and cathodic arc deposition applications to its existing product portfolio.
The acquisition of privately-owned Solvix, which makes power supplies for the surface treatment and thin films industry, will enable the US firm to develop its thin-film industrial products in Europe in Solvix's engineering plant in Villaz-Saint-Pierre, western Switzerland.
