August 5 (Renewables Now) - UK-based company Absolute Solar and Wind Ltd has won a 1-MWp solar job in Widnes, Northwest England in a tender process launched by the Halton Borough Council.

The council got five bids in the tender which sought an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the project. The solar system will be installed on a former brown-field site, a former golf course built on a capped chemical landfill site.

Absolute Solar and Wind will also be in charge of the solar photovoltaic (PV) park’s operation and maintenance (O&M) for an initial period of two years, with seven three-year extensions possible. The contract value is a bit over GBP 1.3 million (USD 1.6m/EUR 1.4m).
