Indo-Chilean solar thermal company Climatenza has inked a framework agreement to buy a solar collector production line in India from Swedish concentrated solar heating specialist Absolicon Solar Collector AB.
The T160 production line is said to have the capacity to produce 50 MW of solar collectors annually. In addition to the hardware, Absolicon will provide consulting support for marketing and technical support, development and technical training.
The agreement envisions between EUR 4 million (USD 4.5m) and EUR 5 million in revenues, with Absolicon's estimates pointing to the lower end of the range. The company will also receive a monthly licensing fee of 4% if the deal is finalised.
In addition, between 30% and 40% of raw materials purchased for production may go through Absolicon, while the rest will be sourced from local subcontractors. At full production, the line is estimated to need materials worth EUR 10 million-15 million annually.
The production line that is being negotiated for sale is the same one that Absolicon has in Sweden and the one it installed in China's Sichuan Province, the company said.
