ABB eyes renewable energy opportunities in India - report
Nov 11, 2014 - Swiss-Swedish industrial group ABB (VTX:ABBN) is looking to expand further its presence on India’s renewable energy market, the Hindu Business Line said yesterday.
ABB India’s services manager Madhav Vemuri told the daily that the company’s goal is to take advantage of the growing power deficit in some regions and state and government plans to build new solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities. Solar water pumps will also be a focus as demand is rising in some remote locations, he added.
In the renewable energy field, ABB offers products for the solar, wind and hydropower sectors, including inverters, electrical balancing of plant and local networks. The company also makes pump drives and panels for solar water pumps.
Meanwhile, ABB is collaborating with several large groups in India on energy efficiency projects, Madhav Vemuri added. Indian daily the Business Standard said this summer that ABB India is working on a new technology for remote monitoring of solar plants that enhances electricity production.
