German photovoltaic (PV) plants owner 7C Solarparken AG (ETR:HRPK) on Tuesday said that it has secured project rights for two PV projects in Germany totalling almost 100 MWp.
This follows the signing earlier this year of a letter of intent with a German project developer with a 400-MWp pipeline for the transfer of potential rights on advanced solar developments to new companies controlled by 7C Solarparken.
The first two projects secured as a result of this partnership include an 80-MWp scheme at an obsolete military site in the district of Vorpommern-Greifswald, Mecklenburg Vorpommern and a 16-MWp project on conversion land in the district of Goerlitz, Saxony. Both could start construction before the end of 2023.
7C Solarparken said the projects could make a substantial contribution to its plan to increase its capacity to 525 MWp by 2025 from 366 MWp now. As the projects are in an advanced stage, they can take part in tenders, with the German government recently announcing a decision to include projects up to 100 MWp in the auction process.
Last month, it was announced that Germany is planning an additional 1.5-GW solar tender in a push to increase green power production and cut gas consumption in the short term.
