US solar project developer 174 Power Global Corp, an affiliate of South Korea's Hanwha Group, has completed the 180-MW Oberon solar power plant in West Texas, it announced today.
The solar park was built on a 1,200-acre (485.6 ha) site outside of Odessa in Ector County and now comprises more than 560,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels. The facility is capable of powering an average of 30,000 local homes per year.
An affiliate of the developer, namely retail energy provider Chariot Energy, has a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 30-MW portion of the plant’s total capacity.
