Australian engineering and construction firm Zinfra Pty Ltd will be in charge of building the connection assets for the 530-MW Stockyard Hill wind project in Western Victoria.
Zinfra will perform the task on behalf of grid owner AusNet Services, Zinfra said last Thursday. It expects to mobilise on site by the end of this month.
Under the contract, Zinfra will construct 70 km (43.5 miles) of a 132-kV transmission line for the project, provide all needed materials for the link, complete construction of a 500-kV/132-kV terminal station and carry out works related to realigning an existing 500-kV transmission line.
The Stockyard Hill project is owned by Goldwind Australia, the Aussie unit of Chinese wind turbine maker Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Tech Co Ltd (HKG:2208). The wind park will be located near Ballarat and will use 149 units of Goldwind’s GW3 turbines, which are anticipated to generate enough electricity to supply 391,000 local homes.
The project has a grid connection agreement with AusNet and the Australian Energy Market Operator, signed in May. Construction of the plant was initiated in June.
