Jun 4, 2014 - Chinese photovoltaics (PV) maker Yingli Green Energy Holding Co Ltd (NYSE:YGE) said today it has been rated as the third strongest Chinese brand in Germany, according to a study ordered by technology group Huawei.
Some 2,600 consumers, economic decision-makers and policy-makers were interviewed for the study, prepared by the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and TNS Emnid. Computer producer Lenovo (OTCMKTS:LNVGY) was the leading company in the ranking while Huawei came second.
Yingli Green Energy has been investing in marketing campaigns in order to promote its brand worldwide. The company's strong position on the solar market in Germany is attributable to the long-term investment in its brand, customer base and products, Yingli Green Energy's CEO, Liansheng Miao, said.
Yingli Green shipped 3.25 GW of solar modules in 2013 and ranked as the number-one supplier in the world. According to Stefan de Haan, principal analyst for photovoltaics at market intelligence firm IHS (NYSE:IHS), the key to Yingli’s success last year was its strong presence in each of the world’s leading PV markets -- China, Japan, the US and Germany.
