HydrogenPro to deliver 220 MW of electrolysers for ACES project in Utah
Jun 30, 2022 15:41 CESTApril 1 (Renewables Now) - Norwegian fertiliser company Yara International ASA (OSE:YAR) has pre-ordered 15 floating bunkering terminals as it prepares to supply green ammonia to the shipping industry.
Yara, which is a large ammonia producer, has signed a commercial agreement with Norwegian outfit Azane Fuel Solutions, under which Azane will design and build the ammonia bunker terminals and deliver them to Yara.
According to the companies' announcement today, they will create the world's first carbon-free ammonia fuel bunker network in Scandinavia. Yara's bunker terminals, which will be either barge-based or land-based, will make green ammonia available as a maritime fuel by 2024.
The agreement comes after in 2021 Azane’s shareholders, Amon Maritime and Econnect Energy, received public funds to develop the pilot terminal unit.
Meanwhile, this week it was also announced that Yara will continue the realisaton of its decarbonisation project at the ammonia plant in Porsgrunn but not in a partnership with Aker Clean Hydrogen AS and Statkraft AS, which have decided to leave the development.
