Wpd agrees refinancing for 180-MW onshore wind duo in Taiwan

German renewables developer Wpd AG and its partner Macquarie Group Ltd (ASX:MQG) have completed the refinancing of two onshore wind farms with a combined capacity of about 180 MW in Taiwan.

The refinancing, which was completed at the end of August, was led by two local banks and two local branches of international lenders. It improved the capital structure and provided additional working capital for the project companies, wpd noted in a statement today.

The sites, dubbed Luwei and Chungwei, house a total of 78 wind turbines.

Earlier this year it was disclosed that wpd and a fund associated with Macquarie and its Green Investment Group (GIG) are seeking to jointly acquire a number of Taiwanese onshore wind assets. The transaction was given the go-ahead in the EU in March.
