January 20 (Renewables Now) - A worker has died over the weekend doing preparatory work at the site of the 208-MW Tonstad wind project in Norway.
The accident took place on Saturday night, January 19, while the employee was working on the ground.
“The reasons for the man's death and the circumstances surrounding a possible accident are currently being investigated by the police,” said Henriette Sarah Holberg, head of communications at project company Tonstad ViIndpark AS. She added that it is too early to share further details.
The investigation by the police has just begun and the firm behind the project is fully cooperating, while also conducting its own investigations.
The project company is owned 80% by SUSI Partners AG and 20% by France’s Engie SA (EPA:ENGI). The 51-turbine wind park is currently under construction at a site in the municipalities of Sirdal and Flekkefjord.
