The US unit of Chinese wind turbine maker Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology (HKG:2208) plans to invest up to USD 5 million (EUR 4.4m) in a Silicon Valley-based venture capital fund that backs early-stage high-tech companies.
Goldwind USA Inc intends to invest in Amino Capital, also known as zPark Capital II, a fund that supports early innovators of technologies such as data search, real networking, androids, drones and smart health hardware, among other. The projects it backs are mainly located in China, Japan and the Asia-Pacific.
The company said that this move would allow it to take part in global innovative platforms. It noted that new energy innovative technology projects can bolster its own offerings and at the same time provide additional earnings.
Goldwind’s board of directors approved the transaction on Friday and the proposal is now pending stockholder clearance.
