Renewables consultancy Wind Prospect Group Ltd said on Monday it has won a services contract for the 50-MW Yereymentau wind project in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The company will deliver construction project management and turbine procurement services on a sub-contract basis to peer 3E on behalf of Kazakh energy firm JSC Samruk-Energo. Wind Prospect will have a team in Kazakhstan for tender preparation and management of the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract, turbine supply and construction management services, it said.
Earlier this month, project developer Ereymentau Wind Power LLP invited interested parties to prequalify for work on the scheme. The prequalification documents must be submitted by September 21, 2015.
Wind Prospect noted that construction work is expected to start in June 2016, while completion is scheduled for 12 to 24 months later.
The particular wind project, which may be expanded to 300 MW in the future, will be funded with a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
