February 13 (Renewables Now) - German wind projects developer PNE AG (ETR:PNE3) announced on Monday that one of its subsidiaries has acquired a business specialising in turbine obstruction and on-demand night-time marking.
More specifically, MEB Safety Services GmbH has taken over the personnel and the material stocks of Argus GmbH in an asset deal of an undisclosed size. In the past, the latter has installed obstruction marking systems and provided installation services for manufacturers of on-demand night-time marking systems and wind turbine makers.
PNE pointed out that, starting on July 1, 2020, on-demand night-time marking will be mandatory for both existing and newly installed wind turbines, affecting up to 20,000 machines. Because of that, the company sees large potential in this field.
The transaction also gives MEB a certificate for the installation of obstruction lighting systems on wind turbines in the Czech Republic, thus making it the only approved supplier in the country.
“As part of our Scale Up strategy, we will be able to offer additional services in other areas of project development and operations in the future,” commented Markus Lesser, CEO of PNE.
