US nuclear power company Westinghouse Electric Co has struck a deal to acquire BHI Energy, a domestic engineering services and staffing solutions provider for the power generation segment, including renewables.
A definitive agreement regarding the proposed purchase was signed on Thursday, Westinghouse said in a press release.
Weymouth, Massachusetts-based BHI provides mechanical and maintenance services across the industrial oil and gas, power generation, and transmission and distribution markets. The company is offering site inspection and maintenance solutions for solar parks and is also providing wind turbine maintenance services. It is active mainly in the US and Canada with a workforce of 8,500.
For Westinghouse, which also has power plant service and maintenance operations, the acquisition will be a way to boost its capabilities in the field.
The deal’s closing is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory clearance.
