Western Wind completes 106-MW Windstar wind farm in California
Dec 20, 2011 - Canada-based clean power producer Western Wind Energy (CVE:WND) said Monday it had just fully energised its 106-MW Windstar phase I wind power project in Tehachapi, California.
The turbines at the site will start commissioning at 8 MW to 10 MW a day. The facility is seen to be fully operation by the end of 2011.
The second phase of the project includes 14 MW of wind turbines, which have already been delivered. Foundations are in place and all of the base and mid-towers have already been erected, the developer added.
In 2011, Western Wind managed to put on stream two projects with a combined capacity of 130.5 MW, bolstering its installed capacity by 400%.
