Sep 12 (Renewables Now) - Finnish technology group Wartsila Corp (HEL:WRT1V) said today it will partner with compatriot AW-Energy on the sale and delivery of AW-Energy's WaveRoller wave energy technology.

The two companies have signed a global cooperation agreement, which will focus on project deliveries.

Wartsila said that ocean energy has potential to play a significant role in the future energy mix and that the emerging wave power technology has now reached a point where commercially operating pilot installations can be provided to customers. Wartsila brings to the partnership its global project execution, services and integration capabilities.

"Cooperation with a world-class technology group like Wartsila demonstrates the commercial readiness level of our technology and positions AW-Energy as the frontrunner in the supply and development of wave energy technology," said AW-Energy chief executive John Liljelund.

The agreement comes after in May it was announced that Wartsila will supply components for and support the development of AW-Energy's WaveRoller.
