Vision Industries, Cargotec team up on fuel cell port tractor demo project

Aug 7, 2012 - US fuel cell vehicle maker Vision Industries Corp (OTC:VIIC) said it had agreed with Cargotec USA Inc to jointly develop a zero-emission project to show how hydrogen fuel cell-electric hybrid terminal tractors can be used for cargo movement at port facilities.

The zero-emission terminal tractor demonstration project will be completed under the Technology Advancement Program (TAP) -- a clean-air plan backed by the twin Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. As part of the project Vision is to install its hybrid drive system on the Kalmar Ottawa terminal tractor model.

David Wood, head of terminal tractors in North America for Cargotec USA, pointed out that worldwide interest towards clean container movement technologies was rising.
