July 27 (SeeNews) - UK waste specialist Viridor Ltd on Friday announced the start of construction of its GBP-177-million (USD 274.4m/EUR 248m) energy recovery facility in Dunbar, Scotland.<br /><br /> Based at the company's rail-linked Oxwellmains waste treatment hub, the new plant will have a power generation capacity of 30 MW, producing enough electricity for 39,000 homes. It will also produce up to 10 MW of heat for local use, Viridor said. The energy will come from the processing of 300,000 tonnes of post-recycling "residual" waste per year.
