France's Vinci Energies has taken over the offshore wind farm operations and maintenance (O&M) services arm of German energy and telecommunications group EWE AG.
Vinci Energies, which is part of French construction and concessions group Vinci SA (EPA:DG), announced the deal earlier this week, saying the purchase will expand its energy transition brand Omexom and its offshore wind services.
The French company will take over EWE Offshore Service & Solutions' employees and locations, developing the German company into its offshore competence centre. It will be renamed Omexom Renewable Energies Offshore GmbH.
EWE will keep the Alpha Ventus, Riffgat and TWB II offshore wind farms, which it owns. For the German company, the deal is in line with its strategy to focus on growing its onshore wind energy business.
