Vestas wins deal for 178 MW turbines in Canada

Oct 14, 2011 - Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) announced today it would provide 99 V90-1.8 MW turbines for two wind projects in the southwest part of the Canadian Ontario province, without specifying customer names.

The company will disclose the projects names and specific locations at a later stage.

Vestas will deliver and commission the units and will also provide five-year service and maintenance. The turbines are due for delivery in the second half of 2012, while commissioning is scheduled to take place at the end of the year.

The two wind farms will be constructed under Ontario's feed-in tariff (FIT) programme, offering stable prices under long-term contracts from renewable-energy sources.

The projects will provide electricity for the needs of 60,000 households.
