Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it has secured two contracts for the installation of a total of 51 MW of turbines in Italy from its longtime customer Fri-El Spa.
The turbines will be deployed at two projects, both awarded in Italy's 800-MW auction at the end of 2016.
Vestas will supply and install six V117-3.3 MW turbines at the Albareto wind farm in Emilia Romagna. The other project, called Medio Campidano and located in Sardinia, will use 14 units of the V110-2.0 MW turbine in 2.2-MW power optimised mode. All turbines are expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2018. The deal also includes a two-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service contract.
Vestas said it has now secured more than 950 MW of orders from the four auctions in Italy since 2012.
"Vestas’ broad range of auction-related capabilities and Fri-El Spa’s trust in us allowed us to enter the negotiation early in the process, which proved to be the key differentiator in building a winning bid at the auction," commented Rainer Karan, general manager for Vestas in Italy, Greece and the MENA region.
