Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) announced a trio of orders on Monday for the delivery of a total of 175 MW of turbines in Latvia, Sweden and Italy.
Vestas said it is entering the Latvian market with a 59-MW order from a special purpose company majority owned by Estonia's Utilitas.
The manufacturer will supply and install 14 units of the V136-4.2 MW machine at the Targale wind project in Ventspils municipality, western Latvia, with turbine delivery starting in the second quarter of 2022 and commissioning in the following quarter. The deal also includes a 20-year service agreement.
Vestas, which has recently opened an office in Latvia, noted that the project will almost double the country's current installed wind capacity of 65 MW.
In Sweden, Vestas has received its latest order from Swedish renewables developer OX2. It is for the 86-MW Karskruv project in the municipality of Uppvidinge, Kronoberg county, where Vestas will supply and install 20 V150-4.2 MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode. The order includes a 30-year service agreement. Turbine deliveries are expected to start in the second quarter of 2023, with commissioning slated for the fourth quarter of the same year.
OX2 announced last week the sale of the Karskruv project to Swedish oil-and-gas company Lundin Energy AB (STO:LUNE). OX2 will be in charge of the project's construction and will also oversee its technical and commercial operation.
Vestas has also won a 30-MW order in Italy from local engineering and construction company SIMIC Spa. The Fiurme Santo wind park in Porto Torres in Sardinia will be equipped with five V162-6.0 MW turbines, the first order in Italy for Vestas' Enventus platform.
The manufacturer will supply and install the turbines, with delivery slated for the fourth quarter of 2021 and commissioning for the second quarter of 2022. The company will also service the turbines under a 21-year agreement.
