Denmark’s Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) today announced a couple of new wind turbine supply contracts in Greece for a total capacity of 142 MW.
First, the company said it had received an order to equip an 88-MW wind farm with 21 of its V136-4.2 MW turbines featuring an anti-icing system. The contract includes a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service deal.
Vestas said it plans to deliver these turbines in the second quarter of 2020 for commissioning in the second half of that year.
Also on Thursday, the Danish supplier said that Volterra SA had ordered 15 units of the V117-3.45 MW machine totalling 54 MW, for installation at the sites of two different wind projects in the Viotia region, namely Kastro-Likovouni and Ampelia. This contract includes a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement and envisages Vestas delivering the turbines in the second and third quarter of 2020.
A couple of days earlier, the company announced it had won an order to supply and install 43 MW of wind turbines for three other projects in Greece.
In its latest release, Vestas noted that it has now won more of the auctioned wind power capacity in Greece than any other sector player since the country initiated its transition to an auction-based renewable energy system in 2018. The Danish company’s total order intake in Greece now exceeds 1.9 GW and its market share surpasses 50%.
