Vestas unveils 50-MW order in US, confirms Italian job

February 21 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it has won a 50-MW order in the US for V136-3.45 MW turbines.

In its press statement, the company emphases on the fact that this order contributes to the more than 900 MW of announced V136-3.45 MW orders in the US since October 2017, when the first one was made.

Vestas will produce all of the turbines under the latest order at its four factories in the state of Colorado. The machines will be delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode, starting in the third quarter of 2018. Commissioning is scheduled for the fourth quarter of the year.

The unnamed client has awarded a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement as well.

Also today, Vestas confirmed it will build the 57-MW Morcone wind farm in Italy for a subsidiary of German energy group E.on SE (ETR:EOAN). The Danish firm will supply, install and service 19 units of its V112-3.0 MW turbines for this project. Deliveries are expected in the third quarter of 2018 and commissioning should take place in the first quarter of 2019.
