June 12 (Renewables Now) - Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) on Wednesday announced a contract to deliver and install turbines for a 164-MW wind project in southern Ukraine.

The order came from long-term customer Vindkraft Group and will see Vestas supply, install and commission 39 units of its V150-4.2 MW turbines. The machines will be installed at the Myrnenska wind project in Ukraine’s Kherson region.

Vestas expects shipments of the turbines to begin in the third quarter of this year.

The contract also includes a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service agreement and the delivery of the Vestas Online Business SCADA solution.

The Danish wind turbine manufacturer and Vindkraft first partnered in 2011. “With this order we continue to build on our valued cooperation with Vindkraft as well as on our position as a market leader in Ukraine," said Nils de Baar, president of Vestas Northern and Central Europe. According to the statement, the latest deal represents Vestas' largest order to date in Ukraine.
