Vestas to supply wind turbines for 24-MW project in Ireland
Jul 26, 2012 - Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it had secured a 24-MW wind turbine order from Irish state-controlled utility Bord Gais for the extension of the existing Lisheen wind farm.
As part of the deal, Vestas will supply 12 units of its V90-2.0 MW machine to Lisheen. Delivery is to take place in the first three months of 2013. Balfour Beatty Ireland Ltd, the local arm of British infrastructure company Balfour Beatty (LON:BBY), will be the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor.
The wind farm extension project has been won by Bord Gais in an Official Journal of the European Union tender late last year. The existing facility at the site includes 18 V90-2.0 MW turbines that have been erected in 2009. Vestas noted that the installed machines' performance was exceeding the agreed contractual level.
