A 60-MW wind farm in Indonesia, the country's first large-scale renewable energy project, is set to use turbines made by Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS), the Danish Embassy to Indonesia announced.
Earlier this week in Copenhagen, a power purchase agreement (PPA) was signed between Indonesia's state-owned electricity company PT.PLN and an international group of investors led by Equis that will lead to the construction of the wind farm in South Sulawesi. At the event, Vestas also signed a conditional agreement to provide wind turbines for the project.
According to the announcement, the wind farm is expected to pave the way for more renewable energy investments in Indonesia to support the country’s goal to construct 35 GW of additional capacity and achieve 23% of renewable energy in its energy supply by 2025.
"Vestas sees a long-term potential for wind energy in Indonesia, and we are confident this project can help pave the way for additional wind power investments in Indonesia," said Vestas chief executive Anders Runevad.
The deals were signed during a three-day visit of Indonesia’s minister for state-owned enterprises, Rini Soemarno, to Denmark.
