Vestas to supply 47 MW of wind turbines to subsidy-free UK project

Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) received an order for a 47-MW project to be located in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, from Douglas West Wind Farm Ltd, owned by Greencoat UK Wind Plc (LON:UKW).

The wind park will consist of 13 V136-3.45 MW wind turbines that will be delivered in 3.6 MW Power Optimised Mode. It is the first standalone merchant wind park in the UK being developed without any direct financial support, Vestas said on Friday.

Under the agreement, the Danish firm will not only supply but also commission the wind turbines. The deal includes a 10-year full-scope service agreement Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 that could be extended to 20 years.

Deliveries are seen to start in the second quarter of 2021, with commissioning scheduled for the third quarter of 2021.
