Sep 17, 2012 - Danish wind turbine maker Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said Friday it had won an order to supply 24 MW of its V112-3.0 MW wind turbines in Italy for a project of Fri-El Green Power SpA.
Through June 2012, Vestas has delivered total of 303 MW of the V112 model globally, and secured firm orders for 2,000 MW, it noted.
The deal with Fri-El includes delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning of eight V112 machines at the project site in Italy’s Basilicata region, a VestasOnline Business SCADA system and 5-year service and maintenance agreement. Vestas said it would commence delivery early next year, with the Gorgoglione Guardia Perticara wind farm planned to come on stream in the first quarter of 2013.
The wind park is expected to generate some 50 GWh of power annually, offsetting over 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. The amount of power would be enough to cover the demand of 43,000 Italians, Vestas calculates.
Fri-El operates 471 MW of renewable power plants, mostly wind farms and biomass and biogas installations.
Vestas said that by the end of June it had delivered 2,812 MW of turbines to Italy.
