Vestas to equip 50-MW subsidy-free wind park in Finland

Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems (CPH:VWS) said today it will supply turbines for the 50-MW, subsidy-free Lakiakangas II wind project in Finland.

German company CPC Germania has ordered 12 units of Vestas’ V150-4.2 MW turbines with a 135-metre hub height. The Danish firm will deliver, install and commission the machines in Isojoki, the Southern Ostrobothnia region of Finland.

The contract also includes a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement. Vestas said it expects to deliver the turbines in the first half of next year.

According to Erik Trast, managing director of CPC Finland, the V150-4.2 MW is one of the most efficient wind turbines in the market and will allow the company to operate the wind farm completely market-based without any state subsidies. The plant has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in place with a third party.
