January 11 (Renewables Now) - Danish wind turbine supplier Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) said today it had received an order to supply 101 MW of its wind turbines in China.

The manufacturer will supply, install and commission 46 units of its VV120-2.2 MW turbines in 2-MW platform for towers with 152 m (498.6 ft) of hub height.

The name of the project and Vestas’ client were not disclosed.

Vestas said that the project will have the highest hub heights in the company's history. It is expected to open up new wind resources, as the towers will have access to higher and more consistent wind speeds, thus maximising the project's output.

"The V120-2.2 MW turbine is a great match for the for Chinese market and I’m pleased to see that it’s being received well by our Chinese customers," said Anne Vedel, Vice President and CTO/CCO of Vestas China.

Vestas will also service the machines under a two-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) agreement, including VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution.

Delivery and commissioning are planned for the second quarter of 2019, the firm noted.
