December 27 (Renewables Now) - Vestas Wind Systems A/S has received an order to supply 42 MW of turbines for the Cheongsong Myeonbong Mt wind power project in South Korea.

The project will mark the South Korean debut of the Danish company’s V136-4.2 MW turbines, with ten units set to populate the site in Cheongsong county, North Gyeongsang province. The contract also includes the 20-year service agreement.

The order was placed by Kumho Industrial Co Ltd, the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for the project.

Vestas said Friday the V136-4.2 MW wind turbine would be certified to meet local standards by the second half of 2020. The machines will feature steel and towers from Korea.

Turbine installation is planned to be finalised in the third quarter of 2021.
