Feb 28 (Renewables Now) - Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) today announced the receipt of a firm and unconditional order in the US for 348 MW of wind turbines.
The Danish wind turbine marker did not disclose the names of the customer or the project.
Under the contract, Vestas will supply and commission 174 units of its V110-2.0 MW turbine. Production of the nacelles, blades and towers will take place at the company's factories in Colorado. The turbines are expected to start being delivered in the first quarter of 2018 and to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2018. The order also includes a multi-year AOM 4000 service agreement. It brings Vestas' announced order intake since the start of the year to 899 MW.
Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) last week said that a surge in orders from the US helped Vestas return to the top of its onshore wind ranking for 2016. According to BNEF, Vestas was the number-one wind turbine maker last year with 8.7 GW installed, or 16% of all onshore wind capacity additions.
