Vestas scraps German deal for Fred Olsen Windcarrier ship
Nov 29, 2011 - Danish company Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has cancelled the contract for employment of the offshore wind-turbine transportation and installation vessel Brave Tern of Norwegian company Fred Olsen Windcarrier AS, in Germany.
Vestas decision follows delays of the Gode Wind II project due to postponement of grid connection onshore the country, Norwegian companies Ganger Rolf ASA (OSL:GRO) and Bonheur ASA (OSL:BON), which own Fred Olsen Windcarrier on a 50/50 basis, said today.
The Brave Tern is currently under construction at the Dubai shipyard of Lamprell Energy Ltd (LON:LAM). The vessel was expected to be employed for six months, starting on May 1, 2013.
The deal was announced in February 2011 and the termination is in line with Vestas contractual rights.
