Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) today announced a 51-MW order in China, which it said brings its order intake in the world's largest wind energy market to a six-year high.
The company will supply 23 turbines of the V110-2.0 MW type in 2.2-MW power optimised mode to a long-term customer. Including this contract Vestas' order intake in 2017 in China exceeds 760 MW, the highest level since 2011.
The turbines will be installed at a project in the northeastern Chinese province of Liaoning. "This is our fourth order in Liaoning Province in less than two years, which underlines our progress in Northeastern China through a strong focus on building customer relationships and the right wind energy solutions," said Kebao Yang, Vestas Group senior vice president and president of Vestas China.
Vestas expects to start delivering and commissioning the turbines in the second quarter of 2018. The deal also includes an Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement.
